WHERE IS HOEDSPRUIT AND WHAT CAN IT OFFER?

Hoedspruit is situated very close to the world renowned Kruger National Park and within the Kruger2Canyon Biosphere Reserve - so named for its abundance and variety of fauna and flora.

There are a number of Wildlife Estates for your enjoyment and a change in lifestyle. The most popular is Raptors View which, with the Southern Cross Wildlife School, have been a big influence on the town itself and the number of people being drawn here.

The area has numerous attractions. The Big 5 are on your doorstep. The Northern Drakensberg offer some of the most spectacular scenery and sunsets seen in South Africa. The Panorama Route is something not be missed. Places with names such as God's Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes, Blyde River Canyon and Dam, and the various waterfalls such as Mac-Mac, Bridal Veil, Horseshoe, Berlin and Lisbon, simply invite you to explore.

If you don’t feel like exploring alone at first, experienced tourism companies or friendly locals will assist you.

A number of people ask about Malaria. We fall in a LOW RISK Malaria Area. Only normal precautions need be taken.. Insect spray, cover ankles and wrists in the late afternoons and make use of a mosquito net or fan in the bedroom at night.

Hoedspruit is only 85 kims from the Phalaborwa Gate and 65 kms from Orpen Gate of the Kruger National Park. Visit the nearby towns of Graskop, Pilgrims Rest, Sabie, Tzaneen, Hazyview, White River and Nelspruit. Khamai Snake Park is worth a visit as is Kapama Cheetah Breeding Project. Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre is interesting for the whole family. We are sure that, from the list below, you will find lots to keep you busy or places to simply relax.

The town has all the usual amenities one would expect. Ample medical facilities, supermarkets, a selection of the usual franchise stores, banks and a post office.
