Tzaneen is a 125 km drive. Nelspruit is also an alternative for Hospital care. Hoedspruit and surrounds rely on two very fast and reliable Emergency Services organisations. They operate 24/7 and will ensure that emergencies are dealt with immediately. They undertake to get patients to a hospital as quickly as possible and arrange airlifts should this be necessary. Hoedspruit has its own small airstrip, clearly visible from the parking lot of the Spar in the centre of town.

Schooling : There is now a large selection of schools to choose from. And across all age groups.

All major banks are in town. ABSA, Standard, First National, Capitec and a Nedbank ATM.

Pick ‘n Pay and Spar are the main supermarkets. Le Bamba is the biggest fresh produce store, often carrying fruit and vegetables from the local farmers. There is talk of Checkers coming to town. Other stores include Jet, Mr Price, Sheet Street, Pep and Crazy Store. There are a number of smaller boutique stores. Each one is so different and is worth exploring. Godding and Godding supply silk products and a range of naturally based cosmetics. There is no Florist but fresh flowers find their way in to Hoedspruit for every special occasion. We even have our own Lodge supplier – catering for anything from pots and pans, mosquito nets, upmarket glassware, table clothes, etc.

Tourism and transfer companies cater for visitors going to the surrounding lodges and places of interest.
