Visitors, unfamiliar with the area, often ask …
“How do I get to Hoedspruit?” Here are some easy instructions and suggestions.
Hoedspruit’s own Eastgate Airport is just 7 kms from town. There are now 4 incoming and 4 outgoing flights a day. Two of these are direct Cape Town flights. An indication of just how Hoedspruit has grown is the fact that, when I arrived in Hoedspruit 14 years ago, there were just 3 flights a week.
Avis is situated at the airport for convenience. Other rental companies are available in town.
For those wishing to drive themselves and enjoy the scenery, Hoedspruit is about 4 1/2 hours from O.R. Tambo and 5 hours from Sandton and Johannesburg. Head out on the N4 towards Nelspruit. Pass Witbank and Middelburg and watch for the signs saying “Belfast”. Turn off the freeway and go through Belfast, heading for Dullstroom. Dullstroom is a convenient stop to stretch your legs, have a cup of coffee and browse the shops if time permits. Continue towards Lydenburg, Ohrigstad and then start to relax as the road opens up and drops down the Escarpment through the scenic Pass and on to Hoedspruit. Watch out for the small waterfall that is there all year round.
Visitors to the Area, instead of wondering “How do I get to Hoedspruit” prefer to opt for the reliable and efficient shuttle service from O R Tambo directly to Hoedspruit. Contact Ashtons for more information. http://www.ashtonstours.com/cAt–ashtons_kruger_shuttles
